Webinar – Bicycle Commuter Encouragement for Employers

Aug 25th, 2009 | By Jeff Stephens | Category: Education

MORPC will host a webinar "Encouraging and Supporting Bicycling through Employer Initiatives" on Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Throughout the nation, businesses are creating incentive programs, new facilities, and new policies to support employees who choose to bicycle to work. From offering showers to increasing secure parking, there are many ways to encourage employees to bicycle to work. A hot topic is the Qualified Bicycle Commuting Reimbursement of $20 per month added to the list of qualified transportation fringe benefits covered in section 132 (f) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. During the web conference, our speakers will provide insight into this new benefit and answer the following questions:

  • How does it work?
  • How do we implement a program?
  • Is the benefit pretax?
  • What costs are covered?
  • How do I track expenses?

National experts on bicycle programs will offer suggestions and examples on how to support bicycle commuting in the workplace and they will discuss how your business can strengthen its bicycle friendliness. This is a session you won’t want to miss. Speakers: Alison Dewey, Program Specialist, Bicycle Friendly Communities and League of American Bicyclists and Jeremy Doak, Director of Marketing, Accor Services with Julie Bond, Project Manager, Best Workplaces for Commuters, as your moderator.

The webinar is free but space is limited. Please RSVP (agodwin@morpc.org or 614-233-4123).  The webinar will be in the Buckeye Conference Room at MORPC, 111 Liberty St., Suite 100, Columbus OH 43215.
