UPDATES:
5/2/13: 670 Trail: http://www.considerbiking.org/detour-on-bikeway-by-670/
April 15, 2013:
ALUM CREEK TRAIL – ACADEMY PARK SUSPENSION BRIDGE. The suspension bridge over Alum Creek between Academy Park and Wolfe Park will be closed from April 15 to September 1 for a restoration project. The historic structure was built in 1922 and will undergo a complete overhaul of the towers, railings, decking, and approaches. The structural work will close the trail for a short segment on the east side (Wolfe Park) of the river, between Broad Street and Park Drive. Signed detours around the bridge site are posted for users.
November 19, 2012: “GRANDVIEW AVENUE TO CENTRAL POST OFFICE / 910 DUBLIN ROAD”: ODOT estimates the scheduled completion date is Fall of 2013.
Friday, October 12, 2012: Recreation and Parks is excited to announce that the long awaited Dodridge Street bridge underpass is now open on the Olentangy Trail.
October 1, 2012: Greenways Newsletter: Read it HERE
- The boil near Broad Meadows has been removed (or popped LOL)! Greenways’ maintenance would like to pass on that a root had hit a giant rock, and had begun to grow straight up.
- Olentangy Trail @ OSU: Closed while putting an electric duct bank under the river. Detour is just a quick loop and does not take you onto the road. OSU put down a temporary path for user’s convenience. Scheduled completion is mid-December.
- Alum Creek @ 5th Ave: Metro Parks has contractors out to repair some trail between 5th and Airport Dr. Should be completed by the time the newsletter goes out.
- We have slowly started phase 2 of our trail etiquette project. We will be placing “signal when passing” signs out on the trail in high traffic areas. When I was putting the first one out, I received a thank you for doing so!
- Ongoing closures: I-670 Trail @ I-71 area; Olentangy @ Dodridge Street and Weber Rd access and 3rd Avenue; Scioto Trail @ Dublin Rd to Grandview Ave; Olentangy @ 3rd underpass.
From Ohio State:
Bike path south of Drake Union – starting Sep. 17
The bike path (Olentangy Trail) south of Drake Union will be detoured for installation of the electric duct bank under the river. This detour is expected to last through mid-December. map

August 28, 2012: New Construction—Scioto Trail
Grandview Avenue to Central Post Office/910 Dublin Road
We are excited to announce that construction is now beginning on the gap in the Scioto Trail between Grandview Avenue and the Central Post Office. This linkage is being built by ODOT, and will connect the entire path between downtown and the Grandview/Hilltop area. Construction includes two bridges over the Scioto River. During this 18 month time period, users will not be able to access the path @ Grandview Avenue, and the path will be barricaded near its current end @ the Post Office. Users will still be able to use the path from the Confluence to the Sauder Avenue bridge and cross to the Floodwall Path. Users can also still use the north segment of the trail from McKinley Avenue, the new Hilltop Connector bridge, and a 0.5 mile section to Riversedge.
AREA MAP
Riversedge to Fifth Avenue
Construction starts in September on a new 1 mile extension of the trail north to Fifth Avenue. This will not involve any detours or closures.

670/71 bridge reconstruction project, 12/1/11
A section of the I-670 Trail between St. Clair and the north entry drive to Fort Hayes High School will be closed beginning December 7, 2011. This 800' closure is for the 670/71 bridge reconstruction project. The path segment will be closed until 2014. The east leg of the trail, from Nelson Road to St. Clair, and the west leg from Jack Gibbs/Cleveland Ave. to Fort Hayes, will remain open. An on-street detour is posted using Spring St. and Long St
Olentangy Trail:
Dodridge Street Bridge Replacement
The trail will be detoured beginning July 13 for the duration of the Dodridge Street bridge project. This is expected to be an 18 month construction project and will detour the trail between the OSU Wetlands Park and Tuttle Park. OSU has a new bikeway along Olentangy River Road, on the west side, from Dodridge to Lane. They are also providing use of the wetland park drive, from the trail to Dodridge. With Dodridge St. being closed to car traffic, we will have a full bikeway width along a short distance of the street for your use. This means that your total detour distance will be the same as the current main trail route.

SCIOTO TRAIL
GRANDVIEW AVENUE & DUBLIN ROAD
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 30, the Scioto Greennway Trail will be closed between Grandview Avenue and Dublin Road in order to construct a new bike path to connect to the existing paths. Constructed is expected to be completed by October 31, 2013.

A section of the I-670 Trail between St. Clair and the north entry drive to Fort Hayes High School will be closed beginning December 7, 2011. BLACKLICK TRAIL
BLACKLICK TRAIL EXTENSION – RETREAT AT TURNBERRY
Path construction has begun on a 1.5 mile extension of the Blacklick Creek Trail, from Portman Park to Tussing Road. This connection will complete a link between Portman Park and Blacklick Woods Metro Park. It will also connect 8 miles of Blacklick Creek Trail heading from Three Creeks Park to Portman Park and Pickerington Ponds Metro Park. Construction is expected to last until Fall of 2012.
SCIOTO TRAIL
MAIN STREET @ MIRANOVA
The trail is now open through downtown. A new underpass is complete beneath the Main Street Bridge. The Rich Street Bridge project will still require users to bike around the construction site until next year, but this short section will be easy to avoid.
OLENTANGY TRAIL
DODRIDGE STREET BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
The trail is detoured for the duration of the Dodridge Street bridge project. This is expected to be an 18 month construction project and will end in the fall of 2012. The detour takes place between the OSU Wetlands Park and Tuttle Park.

I would love to get a more current update as to when the Olentangy trail under Dodgridge is going to re-open. Thanks
[...] Visit our update post for this month's update on trail construction. [...]
Mark – This post on the bridge says “November” A call to the number on the document and Joe said it may be longer. Will post when we know a date. http://www.fceo.co.franklin.oh.us/2012%20Projects/dodridge_street_bridge.htm
Are there any current updates on the Scioto trail construction between Grandview Ave. and Dublin Rd. Months ago I saw some initial clearing but nothing lately. Also interested in construction updates between between Riversedge and Fifth Ave. Thanks.
The trail will be extended from Riversedge to 5th Ave, I was out there yesterday and saw flags and markings at the Stella crossing. Grandview Ave to Dublin Rd is an ODOT project, it is in process and the section is closed at Grandview Ave until completion in mid 2013. So yes, it is being worked on. – Jody
Can you provide an update on Alum Creek Trail along Sunbury north of Fifth and north of Innis. It has been a couple of months since I was in the area. Is the construction done and what are the plans for the missing segments? Thanks.
Tim – I don’t have a current update, the news I have is from July. “Alum Creek: Trail construction north of Innis Park and South of Ballyvaughn to Valley Dale are scheduled to be completed in October” I get periodic updates via the Greenways Trail News and post them to the website. Here are the links: http://www.considerbiking.org/greenways-news-october-2012/ and http://www.considerbiking.org/greenways-newsletter-july-2012/
