OSU-Federal Work Study Positions Off-Campus for The Community Radio Project for the 2008-2009 school year! Great for communications, journalism, computer science, and other majors interested in local community radio and the media. Maximum of 20 hours per week. $9+ and hour 1.) File the FASFA First! 2.) Go to The Student Financial Aid site http://sfa.osu.edu/Jobs/ 3.) Click on the “Jobs” Tab at the Student Financial Aid Site 4.) Click on the “Service” tab at the Student Financial Aid Site 5.) At the Community Service Opportunities Page, use the drop-down menu to scroll down to Simply Living (the listings are not in alphabetical order). Highlight Simply Living and click on “submit” next to the drop-down menu. Two of the five positions at Simply Living involve working for the radio project WCRS-LP FM 102.1/98.3. Job # 5056: Community Radio Production Assistant WCRS-LP 102.1 and 98.3 FM is a broadcast service of Simply Living. The student will assist Simply Living staff and volunteers with production responsibilities both with the station generally and also with specific programs: •Develop and maintain the station’s web-presence, including working on the website (www.wcrsfm.org) to include podcasting capabilities, program notes, current activities and more. •ImproveWCRS’ presence and capacity on social media outlets and forums. •Assist with technical support of computer software and hardware as needed and support studio audio equipment. Training will be provided. •Assist with production needs related to the weekly hour-long program, Conscious Voices, featuring people who have made a conscious choice to live a vision outside of mainstream culture. Tasks can include: Learn production techniques in Sony Soundforge and produce short segments for the show. Book guests for the show and keep an online editorial calendar Create show notes plus short articles about featured guests for the website: www.consciousvoicesradio.org Upload shows for podcasts and pictures of featured guests. Catalogue program descriptions and contacts for the contacts database. Send thank-you and complimentary CDs to program guests. • Assist with program production of other locally-produced shows as needed. Job # 5059: Program Assistant-Education, Outreach, Community Radio Project To assist Simply Living staff and volunteers with responsibilities including: 1. Participating in the Radio Steering Committee; 2. Recruiting and supporting volunteers for the radio project; 3. Producing and distributing organizational newsletter; 4. Event and conference planning; 5. Responding to requests and iniquries; 6. Planning and implementing fund-raising events; 7. Enhancing media relationships; 8. Enhancing liason and outreach efforts to The Ohio State University students, faculty and staff and other local non-profit and educational entities. The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) is seeking an associate planner. This mid-level planning position requires the practice of basic planning skills, coordination and research sills. This position will be responsible for managing the website for the Central Ohio Greenways (COG) with trail updates, closures and detours; coordinate the greenway and trail signage and facilitate development among multiple jurisdictions in the 12 county regions. Organize quarterly Greenway Trail Forums, conduct community presentations and keep outreach materials updated. This position is also responsible for: collecting, summarizing and reporting data necessary for Bikeway Planning projects: identifying community bikeway master plans and programs associated with alternative modes of transportation; assisting with the implementation of programs with government entities and civic organizations: staying abreast of current bikeway planning principles: being aware of applicable laws and regulations; and maintaining awareness of new trends and advances in the profession. This position requires thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques normally applied to urban and regional transportation planning and administration; knowledge and experience of bikeway, pedestrian, and greenways planning. Ability to interpret laws, rules, and regulations as they relate to bikeway and greenways planning; ability to communicate ideas and findings effectively and concisely in written, oral, and graphic form. An advanced degree in City and Regional Planning, Transportation, Urban Planning, Geography or Natural Resources is preferred. A BS/BA in these fields or similar planning related discipline combined with a minimum of two years planning experience is acceptable. Excellent benefit package. MORPC is an EOE/AAP employer.
