Park and Ride. The park and ride is located along the south side of the Meijer’s store at the corner of Hilliard Rome Rd. and Renner roads. Above is a picture looking south from the parking lot.

COTA currently operates the #5 Local route and the #57 & #66 Express routes from this park and ride. Since the park and ride has been opened, vehicle counts have shown that between 15-30 vehicles utilize this location on a regular basis.

The Greater Columbus Bike Usability Map was awarded a Blue Ribbon, 1st Place Award at the 2009 Ohio GIS Conference. Thanks to our wonderful partners that made this much-needed map a reality! Read more...

We’re happy to report that the Bike Usability Map was awarded a blue ribbon 1st Place Award at the Ohio GIS Conference. This map project is a perfect example of our work in driving the appropriate partners to collaborate in meeting the needs of our constituency. We’re excited for the success of this project, and even more excited that the projected 3-year supply, has been gobbled up by bicyclists in 6 months! (Funny, we told ‘em so!) There’s a 2nd printing planned soon.

We’d like to extend special thanks to the City of Columbus, MId Ohio Regional Planning Commission, IDC Design, and COTA for taking great leadership and ownership in this project. And, most importantly, we’d like to thank all the bicyclists that provided "everyday experience" input on the usability ratings.

We created a map for cyclists…developed by cyclists. No wonder its award worthy, eh?

Maps available at most local specialty bike retailers and local libraries. Here’s a link to on-line maps. http://www.considerbiking.org/resources/maps/

Watch out Paris. Watch out Austin. Watch out Washington D.C.

Columbus is sleepy no more. Thanks to the innovative partnership of Paradise Garage, Sandbox Collective and other businesses in the Short North District, Columbus has launched a bike share program!

Here’s a nice story from the Dispatch that introduces the program.

And here’s the Everyone Bikes web site.

Aren’t we blessed to live in a community that encourages this type of creative & collaborative efforts to provide access to active transportation and enhance the bicycling culture?

Way to go!
