Barbour Arraignment Cancelled

Aug 27th, 2009 | By Jeff Stephens | Category: News

Alert! Friday August 28th Arraignment hearing cancelled. No need to visit courthouse.

We discovered that the court system had listed the Friday, Aug 28 arraignment of the accused in Steve Barbour’s fatality as "Stike Scheduled Dat."  We called and spoke with a deputy clerk about it and she confirmed that "Strike Scheduled Date" means that the arriagnment has been cancelled; because Miller posted bond etc. etc. Presumably in the process of posting bond, the accused has formally acknowledged receipt of the charges against him. (which is the purpose of an arraignment hearing)

We haven’t looked at the paper case file, but, somewhere in there, there should be reflection of the receipt of notice of the charges. If not done already a formal plea will be entered by or before the next hearing.

So, there’s no need to make any appearance at the courthouse on Friday the 28th as previously scheduled.

The next step will be the scheduling of a pretrial or trial date. We’ll keep everyone abreast of the proccess as soon as we hear.

Again, thanks to everyone for your interest in following this case to ensure a transparent and judicious outcome.
