“Thank you for contacting the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) regarding funding for the federal Recreational Trails Program (RTP).
As you may know, the RTP provides funding for States to develop and maintain recreational trails and trail-related facilities for both non-motorized and motorized recreational trail uses. The RTP is an assistance program of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) that is administered at the state level by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). It is estimated that the RTP in Ohio will be allocated approximately $1.6 million in Federal Fiscal Year 2013. Both ODOT and ODNR recognize the importance of this program and, as a state, Ohio will continue work with stakeholders to successfully implement the RTP.
Once again, Ohio will not be opting out of the RTP this year, so our state can continue to benefit from this program. Thank you once more for your interest in this matter. Please do not hesitate to contact the Department with any future transportation related issues.”
